Taras Stetskiv: OU-PSD doesn't have action plan in opposition

The OU-PSD has recently stated loudly about withdrawal from the democratic majority. "If the BYuT and Tymoshenko come to senses," leader of the faction Vyacheslav Kyrylenko stated. But what it is necessary to do if the pro-presidential faction doesn't have any plan of opposition activity, and it is practically split?

"Now everything depends on Viktor Yushchenko, how effectively he will act as the President and whether he holds the pro-Ukrainian position," Taras Stetskiv considers.

- Taras Stepanovych, President Viktor Yushchenko called joint voting of the BYuT and the PR as the political and constitutional coup. If it is so, then what measures should be taken?

- I don't think it is the State coup. It is just collusion of the BYuT and the PR who really have assumed the power in the parliament and this means that in prospective they assume power in Ukraine.  It is the collusion and betrayal in attitude to the OU-PSD. This scenario is profitable for Russia.

- Nevertheless, the parliament works now, MPs vote and the VRU podium is not blocked as it was during the last session.

- Of course, they try to provide the parliament with the effective work in order to show that this was done for the sake of peace and people's tranquility. But in truth there will be corporative interest and access to resource.

- And what next?

- The BYuT has to form officially its coalition relations with the PR and they split the power, and the Our Ukraine, as the only one pro-Ukrainian force in the parliament, turns out to be in the opposition.

- Do you have action plan in the opposition?

- We have no plan yet, as the situation was unveiled only yesterday.

- Do you set aside variants of negotiations between former partners?

- I think that after mutual accusations of the President and the Prime Minister the way to agreements is practically closed.

- During the sitting of the OU-PSD faction Viktor Yushchenko has told that he will participate in the forthcoming presidential elections and will win.

- Yes, he has told that he will participate in the elections and will win.

- How objectively does the President appraise the situation? Does he know that his rating, as well as the rating of the "Our Ukraine" is extremely low?

- To my mind, the President wanted to inspire members of the faction with confidence, to urge us to unity in order we not to desert other camps. I think this was his real aim.

- It seems that the President's exhortation hasn't give your faction the unity - the "People's Self-Defense" didn't vote for the coalition withdrawal and Yuriy Lutsenko was the only one Minister from the OU-PSD who remained at the government's sitting.

- I consider the position of the People's Self-Defense as mistaken. If we are members of the OU-PSD faction, then we have no right to hold separate position! Thereby, we loss authority over the BYuT, as well as the OU. This is absolutely obvious. This is not just a mistake, this is a gross mistake of both Yuriy Lutsenko and the People's Self-Defense.

It is impossible to have an image of a politician who deserted the Social party for the "Our Ukraine" and then deserted for the BYuT for three years. Because the BYuT will think about the necessity of such politicians who change their political orientation once in two years, leaving the political force which won at early parliamentary elections.
