Ukraine receives park wakeboarding World Cap

On August 8-10 the third stage of the World Cap on wakeboarding takes place in Kyiv in the park "Druzhba Narodiv".

More than 80 wakeboarders from Europe, America and Australia participate in it.

The world association of wakeboarding conducts the World Cap for the first time. Championship takes place in five countries: France, Philippines, Ukraine, Denmark and Germany.

Wakeboarding is a new developing sport. It is surface water sport which involves riding a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water behind a boat. It was developed through a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques.

President of the Ukrainian Federation on water sport Vasyl Hryshko: "Wakeboarding is developing in Ukraine about 8 years. In 2007 the waterskiing cable-way road was built in Kyiv.

In Ukraine wakeboarding competitions have taken place since 2003, since the creation of the first water sport kite-wake club "Extreme Tyaha".

The total prize fund of the Ukrainian competitions will comprise $30000. The wakeboarders will compete for the main title at final competition T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds in Germany on August 23-24.
